SYNOPSIS

In 2023, actress Emmanuelle Béart revealed publicly that she is a survivor of incest, contributing to a growing national reckoning on child sexual abuse in France. Alongside co-director Anastasia Mikova, Béart creates a powerful documentary that gives a voice to survivors, confronting the societal taboos and legal shortcomings in a country where a child is sexually abused every three minutes. Initially reluctant to include her own story, Béart ultimately shares the devastating impact of the silence imposed by abusers, describing it as a noise that takes many forms within the victim. Through personal and collective testimonies, this stirring film explores the enduring trauma of incest and offers a universal message of resilience and solidarity.

SYNOPSIS

What’s left of the Olympic dream when the whole nation is at war? This film takes us to the heart of Ukrainian sport and the intimacy of its athletes. From Kiev to Zaporijia, via Dnipro and Irpin, the characters in this film live to the rhythm of sirens, Russian missiles, power cuts… and training sessions. The goal : Paris 2024.

Volodymyr, Marya, Alina and Iryna are young Ukrainian champions in gymnastics, fencing, athletics, wrestling and kaya- king. Uprooted by two years of war, their lives were shattered by horror, and their Olympic destinies got hit by human folly. Volodymyr lost a leg at the Front and is now trying to qualify for the Paris Paralympics. Marya’s father is at the Front and hasn’t been home for months, and Alina is terrorized by the bombs that hit her town every day. As for Irina, the horrors she suffered in Irpin at the start of the war have plunged her into a depression from which she is struggling to escape. While training in the freezing Ukrainian winter, qualification attempts and sporting feats punctuate our story, this film is above all a breakthrough into Ukrainian society and the intimacy of athletes in wartime.

Iran, the faces of wrath

SYNOPSIS

This film is a behind-the-scenes look at the Women, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran. The story begins a few weeks after the death of Mahsa Amini, a young Kurdish student who died on September 16, 2022 under police attack for a few strands of hair escaping from her veil.

Shorresh Afkari, an Iranian filmmaker, contacted a French colleague, Virginie Plaut. He wanted to « fight in his own way, doing what he knows how to do…film and show the history that is being written before his eyes ». Told in the first person in the footsteps of the Iranian director, this documentary is a choral tale that reveals a gallery of colorful characters, representative of this Iranian population at the end of its strength and patience: a small couple of teenagers who dream of living their love in the open and in complete freedom, a cab driver, a fierce opponent, and his mother who tries at all costs to protect him, a painter who tries as best she can to practice her art in spite of the day of censorship, a doctor who treats demonstrators clandestinely, a young man ready to do anything to find money…

SYNOPSIS

As teenagers, Anaïs, Déborah, and Océane discovered they would never carry life due to MRKH syndrome. Born without a uterus, they faced profound grief but held onto a daring hope : a uterus transplant. This documentary delves into their journey, exploring questions of motherhood, science, and miracles.

They still can’t believe it. In the recovery room, the two sisters meet again after an exceptional operation: Aurélie has just given her uterus to her little sister Anaïs. Born without this essential organ for carrying a child, the 36-year-old woman now allows herself to dream of having a baby. A crazy wish but possible. Three and a half years ago, Déborah benefited from the first French uterus transplant thanks to a donation from her mother. She is now expecting her second child. These women are surrounded by an extraordinary medical team: surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, midwives and researchers. The team has been working on this project for over ten years. After the success of the first two transplants, they are already preparing the next one.Crossed portraits of these three women united by the irrepressible desire to give life.

SYNOPSIS

This is the story of a woman’s transformation. A woman who becomes a mother and, on becoming pregnant, knows nothing of the upheavals this birth will bring to her life. While motherhood is universal, the cliché of the first few months as sweet and peaceful lives on. We follow this woman from her pregnancy to her baby’s first months in this new role, as a mother. Unvarnished, with no taboos.

What could be more basic, more universal, more natural than giving birth? How wonderfully banal! This event is always depicted in its best light. The dream of a lifetime, of a woman, of a couple. The culmination. Simple happiness. So much for the official version. And then there’s the other. All that’s left unsaid so as not to ruin such a pretty picture: the abyss of pain, anxiety, helplessness, tears and dizziness that the arrival of a little being weighing around 3 kilos and demanding attention 24 hours a day can provoke. In this film, we follow a young woman as she becomes a mother for the first time. We’ll start filming the last months of her pregnancy, right up to her baby’s first months. She’ll be living on the edge of this post-partum period, hung over the void and still taboo in society, even if the word is gradually getting out.

Gaypride in the fields

SYNOPSIS

In July 2023 the 2nd edition of a rural pride festival in the village of Chenevelles takes place. The region’s LGBT+ community, along with the mayor and his constituents, are mobilizing to ensure that this celebration resonates throughout the country. They hope to exceed 1,000 participants to spread the word that the countryside has freed itself from stereotypes.

The idea was born at a cocktail party between Mayor Cyril Cibert, a married homosexual father of two, and Etienne Deshoulières, a lawyer with the Stop Homophobie association. They had a crazy idea: their own rural Pride, in Chenevelles please! They laughed a lot, and the idea finally caught on! The Fiertés Rurales association was born.The event exceeded 700 participants. Farmers lent their tractors, locals created floats, children made banners. Enough to question the acceptance of LGBTQIA+ people in the countryside where, not so long ago, they had to hide. Times are changing. While LGBTQIA+ acts are on the rise, it is mainly in cities, leaving rural areas less affected. “The city, which used to be seen as an obligatory passage for a personal coming-out, is no longer a protective space”.
