SYNOPSIS:

This film is a behind-the-scenes look at the Women, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran. The story begins a few weeks after the death of Mahsa Amini, a young Kurdish student who died on September 16, 2022 under police attack for a few strands of hair escaping from her veil.

Shorresh Afkari, an Iranian filmmaker, contacted a French colleague, Virginie Plaut. He wanted to « fight in his own way, doing what he knows how to do…film and show the history that is being written before his eyes ». Told in the first person in the footsteps of the Iranian director, this documentary is a choral tale that reveals a gallery of colorful characters, representative of this Iranian population at the end of its strength and patience: a small couple of teenagers who dream of living their love in the open and in complete freedom, a cab driver, a fierce opponent, and his mother who tries at all costs to protect him, a painter who tries as best she can to practice her art in spite of the day of censorship, a doctor who treats demonstrators clandestinely, a young man ready to do anything to find money…
