SYNOPSIS:
Known or unknown, then or now, athletes or amateurs, this film follows the intimate journey of 6 inspiring women who use sports to conquer their freedom, while retracing the great history of women’s fight to access sports for over 150 years.
150 years ago, there was no such thing as a woman running. Back then, it was impossible for her to imagine “abandoning” her husband and children at dawn on a Sunday morning, to take time out for herself, to remember that she had a body, that it belonged to her and that she could do with it as she pleased. Today, these women can be seen in our cities, our countryside and our sports fields. But who are they? What obstacles have they had to overcome to achieve their freedom? What risks did they take to gain the right to govern their own bodies? Aren’t they contributing to the evolution of male/female relations in our societies? Is sport really a shared, open, mixed space, where men and women can access and appear on an equal footing?
