SYNOPSIS:
In cases of domestic violence, the children’s voice remains fragile in the face of a justice system that still too often considers it to be manipulated by the mothers. Mothers in Struggle recounts the paradox of 3 mothers who, by denouncing the sexual violence committed by their (ex-) spouses against their children, find themselves convicted of child nonrepresentation..
This is the story of the mothers who denounce the sexual violence committed by their (ex-)spouses against their children, and while trying to protect them, find themselves convicted of child nonrepresentation. Even as they dare to break the silence, they are faced with an impossible choice: leave their child in the hands of their abuser, or take the law into their own hands, sometimes risking their lives, to ensure their safety. There are those who remain silent about the violence suffered by their children, fearing that the state will take them away. Those who have to cope with legal proceedings and endure institutional abuse. These women each struggle in their own way, driven by the hope that the recent liberation of speech will change the way society looks at them.
